The Post-Modern Party

¡I love the 80's!

And speaking about SFMOMA... my boss there is getting married so she couldn't attend to that exclusive party in the Museum of Modern Art of San Francisco so she decided to give it to me... I wasn't so excited at the beginning because she told me I should wear something elegant, but she was very insistent about attend the event, so I went.
You can imagine my clothes weren't at all elegant... but you know, a sexy top, a black pant and make up it's always a good solution. I had to go first to work at the University and I didn't want to go dressed up, so I brought my stuff in my purse and changed myself in the bathroom.
I have to tell you, the party was great, so beautiful... even though I felt I was not fitting very much in there (I didn't know anyone). I recorded some videos and tried some of the food (it was delicious!) and of course, a couple of margaritas...
Finally I met Andrew and some of his friends, but after a while, I lose them again and couldn't find them during the rest of the night.
Here you can enjoy a little bit of the night. (The music I put on the video it was one of the songs they played. and I loved it, because I love the 80's music, thanks to my brother influence).

When I finished working at SFMOMA, I shared the comments of the Museum of Modern Art's tour with my mother and aunt. Taking the chance that I'm working there, I gave them free tickets.
That was the conversation... sorry it can't be translated...

Lunch break at Yerbabuena Garden

I've started my internship in SFMOMA and I feel really happy.
I wish I could spend more time, instead of just one day. I'm doing exactly what I was expecting to do, kinda the same I use to do in Spain when I was working in RACC but changing cars by art exhibitions.
This morning has been my first official day. They offered me a tour in the Museum where I've been enjoying a wonderful exhibition of the Spanish artist Picasso called:
Picasso and American Art. A very interesting exhibition that explains some American influenced adopted by Picasso, even though he never stepped on American land.
During the lunch break I've beein having some relaxing time with Andrew, the web producer, who's encharged of teaching me everything and the one I'll be working the 90% of the time with.
The picture has been taken in the
Yerbabuena Garden , the place where since now, we'll be holding our Thursday's night.

Happy Valentine's!

Today has been one of my best Valentine's day ever.
I hate this day, maybe because I'm The Single Forever and this day has no sense for me but at the same time I always am expecting that flower or message from that spontaneous and anonym person who decide confess me that has been thinking of me.

Yesterday I decided I'd have the shortest Valentine's day, so my suffereing wouldn't last longer. I went to bed by 5am watching 3 followed chapters of "Six Feet Under" (one of the best soaps ever) so this morning I wake up at 12pm thanks to that wonderful sunlight entering through my window. What a wonderful day!
I turned on my laptop, as every morning: no emails from lovers at all. But I did have an e-mail from my brother and another from Dana Mitroff (Head of Online Services in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art), the one who made me an interview last week to work as an intern in the SF MOMA. I haven't told you guys, but my last week in Spain I applied for this internship in the SFMOMA's Web Group. The funny thing about that is how they tried to contact to me different times but my phone was always off line. They also sent me e-mails that I answered but it wasn't until I came back to SF and I called them to let them now that I was already in the States again, when I realized that they never received any of my answers. Finally, I got an interview last week and I didn't heard back from them again until yesterday, that she told me she was still interviewing more people and they would let me know something at the end of the next week.
So... this e-mail didn't sound so good to me.
But, when I've opened it and I've started reading it: "Hi Sheila, I'm writing to let you know that we would like to offer you the internship here at SFMOMA. I hope that you are still interested in it!".
In the rest of the e-mail she asked me to fill an application and expected me in the next 3 weeks.
Today has been such a great day, one of those you can't erase that stupid smile from your face. The fact of being selected by lots of applicants, some of them even Americans, makes me feel how my language challenge and my efforts have been worth it.
From here to Google!!

Yesterday night I went for my first time to the SFMOMA. Michael renewed his anual membership and invited me to go. It was really nice (specially going at night time) even he thinks they have had better exhibitions. But it wasn't so bad. I could see what kind of art he likes (which it's probably the opposite than mine) and a very interesting exhibition about the big Earthquake suffered in SF in 1906. After, we decided to go to eat some sushi. I was kind of scared because one year ago I suffered a big intoxication but I decided to finish with this trauma and go. I'm happy now, because I was able to eat it again and I was able also to try some other things that I really liked it.

By the way, I am excited about knowing that in my neighborhood we have:
1. A Starbucks and a Blockbuster around the corner
2. And a no that bad Spanish wine in the Supermarket in front of my home
Now, I am ready to live here. And I have so much spare time, that I dedicate it to cook.
If my mother could look at me...
